Category 2: New Self-Catering Accommodation
Sustainable Low Carbon Tourist Accommodation for a two-bedroom self-catering unit project at Brackloon Castle, Co. Galway, has been developed through Fáilte Ireland’s Regenerative Tourism and Placemaking Scheme, which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, through the EU Just Transition Fund.

Project Description
The project proposes to build a structure adjacent to the castle to house a self-catering unit comprising two bedrooms (four bed-spaces), a bathroom, a living area (with additional temporary bed-spaces) and a kitchen. (EU JTF Category 2) This project will enhance tourism and community development regionally through increased visitor numbers, longer term stays, unique, authentic, immersive experiences and interpretation of local built, natural and cultural heritage.
