Visitor facilities to support a castle tour and hospitality experience project at Brackloon Castle, Co. Galway has been developed through Fáilte Ireland’s Regenerative Tourism and Placemaking Scheme, which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, through the EU Just Transition Fund.

Project Co-Funding Amount: €176,000.00
Project Start Date: 2 September 2025
Project End Date: 1 August 2026

Project Description

The project proposes to develop a building adjacent to castle to house an archive room and toilet  facilities (EU JTF Category 1) and an accommodation project (under separate EU JTF Category 2). When the accommodation is not in use, a partition can be removed to join both building elements to form one space for events. This project will enhance tourism and community development regionally through increased visitor numbers, longer term stays, unique authentic immersive experiences and interpretation of local built, natural and cultural heritage.
